Napsack™ - A safe solution for your baby

Your baby's safety is our #1 priority, and here you can read more about the safety behind your new Napsack™ Weighted Sleeping Bag.

Is the product safe for your baby to sleep with?

While your baby's sleep is important, the safety around your baby is even more important. During the development of the Napsack™, our top priority has been to consider your baby's safety while using the Napsack™, and then to enhance the quality of sleep. Because improved sleep quality isn't much use if safety isn't at its best - and we've made sure it is!

Tested and approved

Napsack™ is like a weighted sleeping bag for children - only specially designed for babies. In developing Napsack™, safety has been considered in every aspect, from the choice of material to the design and consideration of babies' differences.

The result? A thoroughly tested, certified and approved product that is your guarantee and assurance that the product is 100% baby friendly and safe to use for all babies.

No two babies are the same and based on the theory that only the best will do, we have developed the Napsack™ weighted sleeping bag with an eye for detail and babies' differences such as variations in weight, body temperature etc. ensuring that this weighted sleeping bag for babies is in no way dangerous to use.

The Napsack™ helps to improve your baby's sleep quality, so it is important that the sleeping bag does not bother your baby to use. This means that the gentle weight or gravity with which the polyester balls lie on your baby is carefully calculated based on the smallest baby size. This way you can be sure that the weight will in no way be a bother to your baby, but rather feel like a very gentle weight and soothing embrace.

Every detail has been thought of, and the polyester balls under the soothing bear design are even encased and double stitched with 2 bags to avoid any choking hazards. If, against all odds, the double-stitched bags do break, the polyester balls are each smaller than a grain of rice and made from a non-toxic material to optimise safety for babies, children and adults alike.

Developed according to Health Authority recommendations

Napsack™ has been developed based on the recommendations of the Danish Health Authority and, as mentioned above, has been thoroughly tested and checked before the product was put on the market.

The Danish Health Authority has published a leaflet with simple advice that parents are encouraged to follow when it comes to their baby's sleep to prevent cradle death and plagiocephaly. The development of Napsack™ takes this into account, so that you as a parent have the opportunity to create the most optimal conditions for your baby's sleep rhythm.

Freedom of movement and comfort

Among other things, the Health Authority recommends always putting an infant to sleep on its back, as long as the baby has not yet learned to turn itself. This is to reduce the risk of cot death.

The Napsack™ weighted sleeping bag is designed to be comfortable for your baby to sleep in on their back, and if your baby has learned to turn themselves, the weighted sleeping bag will naturally follow your baby's body without being a discomfort to the baby.

A comfortable sleeping temperature

Another piece of advice about baby's sleep that parents are encouraged to follow is to avoid baby getting too hot while sleeping. The optimal sleeping temperature for a baby is slightly cool, around 18-20 degrees, and in addition it is important to avoid exposing the baby to drafts.

The fabric that Napsack™ is made of has been carefully selected to ensure the most comfortable sleeping temperature. This means that the Napsack™ has a standard fabric thickness of 1 TOG (measure of thickness), which ensures that the sleeping bag can be used all year round without your baby getting too hot during sleep.

In colder periods, an extra layer can be added either under or on top of the sleeping bag in the form of a blanket, clothing or an extra duvet. The sleeping bag is suitable for temperatures between 12 and 25 degrees, and therefore the Napsack™ sleeping bag can be used without an extra layer most of the year for a comfortable sleeping temperature.

What can you do for the safety of your baby's sleep? - Here are 3 great tips

Based on the Health Authority's leaflet, there are generally 3 tips you as a parent can follow to optimize safety when your baby is sleeping - with the aim of preventing cradle death and plagiocephaly

  1. Always put your baby to sleep on his back.
  2. Avoid smoking - babies exposed to smoking are at a higher risk of cot death.
  3. Avoid your baby getting too hot during sleep.

At Littlenap we encourage safe and better baby sleep, and in addition to our Napsack™ product being designed with safety in mind, according to the Danish Health Authority there are several factors you as a parent can take into account regarding your baby's safety:

  • Always place your baby on his or her back when sleeping.
  • Prevent the back of your baby's head from flattening by laying your baby on his or her stomach as much as possible during waking hours.
  • If necessary, adjust the angle of your baby's head a few times during the night.

Avoid your baby getting too hot at night. It is recommended to ensure that the room has a slightly cool temperature (about 18-24 degrees) and to cover your baby with a temperature-approved product such as a baby blanket, a Napsack™ or other approved baby sleep products.
NOTE: Always make sure NOT to cover your baby's head during sleep to avoid choking hazards.
